The learning to read stage is so much fun as you watch a whole new world open to your child! Oh wait, I see your nervous smile. Are you wondering where to start, how to do it, if you can do it, and if you're qualified to teach your child how to read?
I hear you momma, the thought of teaching your child how to read can feel a bit overwhelming and even intimidating.
But here's the thing: you are your child's very best teacher -- you've already taught your child most of the things and skills they know today and reading is no different. You can absolutely teach your child how to read!
Foundations Phonics is your easy and fun guide for the process.
Lessons in Foundations Phonics are easy to follow and feature:
- engaging lesson narrative
- phonics instruction
- sight words
- fun activity sheets
- hands-on activities
Foundations Phonics is designed to fit into a busy life and schedule because as moms, we all juggle a lot! Lessons last about 10-20 minutes, three times a week. A suggested schedule makes it easy to plan and track your child's progress.
Hands-on activities are so important -- not to mention fun! Foundations Phonics includes suggested hands-on activities for each lesson. Don't worry though, the vast majority of these activities utilize materials you likely already have on hand to make planning and learning a breeze!
- a flashlight
- flour or sugar
- washi or painter's tape
- loose letters (like magnets or foam letters)
Foundations Phonics is designed to be a grab & go guide so that you can focus on having fun with your child while they're learning to read!
Foundations Phonics guides your child on an adventures from Creation to the Resurrection of Christ as they learn to read, creating a firm Biblical foundation. By the end of the program, your child will have traced God's plan of Salvation throughout history while they've learned how to read. More importantly, they will understand what Salvation that means for them individually.
Hi friend! I'm so excited for you as you start this journey of teaching your child to read -- it's such a special time in your child's life!
I fondly remember sitting with my mom on the couch as she taught me to read. Even over 20 years later we still chat about the memories we made! And now as I've taught my own children to read I've loved watching their eyes and face light up as connections are made and a whole new world opens to them.
I wrote Foundations Phonics because I wanted to empower you to make those memories and share this experience with your child too.
As moms, we teach out kids everything from walking, to talking, eating, letters, manners, and numbers. But then when they hit the learning to read stage we often feel intimidated and un-qualified. But friend, that's not the truth! You have been, and still are, your child's best teacher. You can totally teach your child how to read!
You're going to have so much fun teaching your child how to read, and I can't wait to hear about the memories you make together.
